Artifice had its beginnings in 2018, and as plans came together we decided to launch our premiere performance in March of 2020.
While the performance was received well, the Covid-19 pandemic shut the world of live performance down a week after our premiere performance. The effects of the pandemic has caused many members of the ensemble to leave the area, or switch career paths away from choral performance. As we emerge from the pandemic, Artifice is looking for donors who are interested in supporting the work of new composers, and evolving the performance practice of choral works in the Washington, DC area.
