The 2022 ACF Experimental Institute is a multi-faceted, 10-day summer intensive, in which a small and highly accomplished group of fellows and mentoring faculty will convene on the hilltop space of Antenna Cloud Farm in Gill, MA, for an artistic retreat, musical collaboration, discussion, creative and career mentorship, and to build community. The Experimental Institute will also serve as a prototyping, brainstorming, and seed-planting space for the creation of a radical new music Conservatory centered on holistic approaches to artistic excellence, and built upon anti- racist and liberatory values. The Conservatory will be led by a group of prominent and forward-thinking cultural and musical leaders, and offer programming rooted in personal wellness, mutual learning and decolonized academic study, innovative and sustainable approaches to career-building, social impact work, professional engagements, performances, and the creation of new work.
Antenna Cloud Farm concerts, events, and radical educational programming provide rich opportunities to build community and engage with hope and healing through live musical experiences of the highest quality in an inspirational setting. Rooted in the genuine belief in the power of music as a catalyst for societal change, ACF is a place of respite for radical self-care, a center for innovating decolonized musical curriculum and learning, a cultural hub open to artist-activists of all backgrounds, and a proud advocate and supporter of local farmers and food justice activists.
ACF's work includes creating innovative retreat summits for artist-activists, cultural leaders, and change-makers that focus on project development, collaboration, network-building, self-care as a radical act, and cultural advocacy. We’ll also embark on the very beginning steps of fulfilling our dream to expand and renovate our artist accommodations to allow for larger artist groups, ensembles, and gatherings.
