Did you know that when individuals with special needs turn 22, they age out of the school system? Sadly, over 80% of them are left without affordable, accessible programs to meet their social and recreational needs. They are often left isolated at home, disconnected from the world.
But at Amazing Friends Club in Winder, GA, we refuse to let that be their reality.
Every single day, we provide a vibrant, lively social and activity club for incredible adults with mild and moderate intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through our "High Five Approach," we ensure every member feels Welcomed, Loved, Connected, Purposeful, and filled with Joy. We build life and social skills, enjoy helping our community, love spreading joy, and make lasting memories.
But right now, we hit a major roadblock 🚧: transportation.
Our amazing friends have a right to be an active part of our community. They want to go on community outings, volunteer, visit parks, work on their skills, and explore the surrounding areas of Barrow, Jackson, Hall, Gwinnett, Clarke, Oconee, and Walton counties. Right now, our adventures are strictly limited by our ability to find available rides.
We are launching a drive to raise $35,000 to purchase a quality 15-passenger club van or bus.
Imagine the pure joy on our members' faces when they can all pile into their own club vehicle, sitting side-by-side with 14 of their best friends, singing songs, and heading out to serve their community or start a new adventure. A dedicated van means freedom. It means inclusion. It means changing lives because nobody gets left behind. You can help make a real difference in the lives of some highly underserved individuals.
