After Melissa: Tweedside Recovery Fund
Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica with brutal force — but in the remote area of Tweedside, located in the parish of Clarendon, help still hasn’t arrived. Homes are damaged, roads are blocked, and families remain without power, clean water, or secure shelter. While national attention fades and resources are stretched thin, Tweedside — a proud, generational community tucked away in Jamaica’s interior — continues to wait for help that may never come. This recovery fund is more than a disaster response. It’s a direct extension of the Tweedside Community Foundation’s core mission: to care for the most vulnerable, preserve dignity, and invest in the long-term well-being of this resilient community. From delivering daily essentials like food and medicine to supporting children’s education and caring for our elders, TCF has always stood in the gap when others could not.
Now, in the wake of this unprecedented storm, that mission takes on new urgency. This fund will provide immediate relief — food, shelter, clothing, hygiene kits — while laying the foundation for long-term recovery, including restoring safe learning spaces, assisting seniors, and stabilizing families facing hardship.
Your donation delivers more than supplies. It delivers continuity, hope, and the assurance that Tweedside is not forgotten.
After Melissa: Tweedside Recovery Fund
Hurricane Melissa hit hard — and the people of Tweedside in Clarendon, Jamaica, are still feeling the effects. Power is out, roads are blocked, and many homes are badly damaged. With little public help reaching this remote area, families are depending on us — the wider community — to step in.
Right now, we’re working to send a 20-foot shipping container filled with essential building supplies: roofing, cement, lumber, tools, tarps, and sanitation items. It’s one of the most direct and effective ways to help.
Even better — for a limited time, Jamaica is waiving customs and duty fees on storm relief shipments. That means everything we send can arrive faster, and go straight to the people who need it most.
Every donation helps us fill that container and support families trying to rebuild their lives.
*Roofing. Tools. Tarps. Cement. This container will carry it all. Help us fill it and send relief straight to Tweedside.
Our Commitment to Transparency
At the Tweedside Community Foundation, we believe that transparency is essential to trust.
100% of the net proceeds from this campaign — after standard processing and platform fees — will be used to directly support recovery efforts in the Tweedside community following Hurricane Melissa. This includes emergency aid, food distribution, care for the elderly and children, and addressing urgent needs such as reported shelter damage, road blockages, and power outages. We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN: 46-2830904), and all funds are tracked and allocated with full accountability. We will share financial summaries and field updates regularly through our official Facebook page so you can see how your support is making a difference.
