Our community is living in fear.
With the Trump administration’s attacks on immigrants, the Afghan newcomer families we support wake up every day wondering: What if ICE agents come for us? What happens to our children if we’re torn apart?
At Afghans For A Better Tomorrow, we refuse to back down. We host gatherings where families can share meals, connect, and heal. We accompany our community members to court and ICE check-ins to ensure they’re not alone. We provide solidarity, protection, and hope when the system tries to isolate and silence them.
But this work is harder—and more dangerous—than ever. Sometimes, we look out the window and wonder if the unmarked van across the street is waiting to take one of our beloved community members away.
