On the LAST day to make a 2020 tax-deductible donation, we'd like to thank everyone who has contributed thus far to our #GivingDecember campaign. We're more than halfway to our goal!
With these funds, we'll be able to better adapt our programming for remote audiences. Some of our plans for 2021:
- The 44th Asian American International Film Festival
- Improving your online viewing experience
- Upgrading our virtual theater interface, streaming equipment, and accessibility features
- Social Distance Watch Parties
- Creating unique themed movie night experiences in closer collaboration with our community partners and sponsors
- Organizing further with our fellow API film festivals to host more national talkbacks, such as what we did this past year with FIRST VOTE, A THOUSAND CUTS, and BE WATER
- Industry Resources
- Supporting more films like YELLOW ROSE and LINGUA FRANCA in our fiscal sponsorship program
- Providing honorariums for guest speakers and artists to host more craft-specific workshops, panels, and masterclasses
- The National Tour
- Increasing accessibility to independent API films through our nationally available rental program, which will now be made available for online screenings
As an extra sign of appreciation, we're providing donors priority RSVP access to our first event of 2021—a limited free online screening of MINARI. This story of resilience, family, and dreaming big makes this film an ideal watch to kickstart the year. We'll be emailing the RSVP link to donors at the beginning of the year.
Overall, we can't wait to continue giving a platform to the amazing work being pioneered by the #API community. Thank you again for growing this space with us, and enjoy the new year!
Wow, thank you for your donations so far via DonorBox and Facebook! Please note that copies of "Quiet is a Superpower" by Jill Chang are no longer available but we encourage you to obtain a copy from your local bookstore!
