October is our anniversary month — and Black Mothers In Power is celebrating by taking bold action: raising $30,000 in 30 days to open Wilmington’s first Maternal Care Center.
This will be a welcoming, inclusive space where all families can access care, support, and community during the postpartum journey and beyond. While this center will serve everyone, we are especially committed to addressing the unique challenges and disparities Black families face in maternal and postpartum care. By centering those most impacted, we can build a stronger system that uplifts and supports all families.
🌿 What the Maternal Care Center Will Provide
Professional lactation support and breastfeeding counseling
Postpartum doula services
Mental health support (therapy, counseling, peer groups)
Hands-on workshops & education for new parents
A safe, nurturing rest space for healing and recovery
⏳ Why Now / Why This Campaign Matters
As we celebrate our anniversary this October, we’re reminded of how far we’ve come — and how urgent the need remains.
We have the vision and the space — now we need the resources. Raising $30,000 in 30 days ensures we can move forward with renovations, staffing, and programming without delay. Without full funding, critical services may be postponed or scaled back.
This is our moment to create a lasting home for maternal and family wellness in Wilmington.
