The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation invited the Mountain Fifes & Drums of Lake Arrowhead, California to participate in their annual Drummer’s Call 2026.
Drummer’s Call is an invitation-only, national gathering of those Fife & Drum organizations who present the most accurate portrayal of 18th century military music. Our Southern California musicians, ages 10-18 years, will have a unique opportunity to experience Colonial American history as living historians, representing our San Bernardino County mountain communities and we are honored to perform in the esteemed Drummer’s Call in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia every other year.
America 250 is the semiquincentennial year of the Declaration of Independence! Communities nationwide will host events from July 3–5. The 25th Anniversary of the Mountain Fife and Drum corps! Founded in 2001, by Kevin Garland (drummer) and Cindy Olson (fifer) together created an enduring and living legacy for the mountain community youth and their families. Our 501c3 nonprofit, stands on five pillars: music, history, discipline, responsibility and leadership while celebrating America's 18th century history, traditions and cultural heritage.
Our nonprofit must raise at least $45k annually to support this living history program: musical training, uniforms, instruments, and performances in our community up and down the mountain while bringing our young musicians and their families from California to Virginia for a week every other year to perform at historical landmarks such as: Mt. Vernon, Monticello, Yorktown and Colonial Williamsburg. Often times, our musician's first travel to the east coast and exposure to the colonial traditions of America's founding.
