Imagine having no clean water, no or a very limited amount of food, no way to provide basic supplies for a child's schooling, no ability to care for ones baby or children if they are sick with malaria or dengue. These and more are the problems facing poor families we support.
Bridge the Gap Inc (BTG) and its supporters have helped families in Iquitos Peru for over a decade. Iquitos is located 90 minutes north by flight in the jungle. It is the largest inland island in the world.
Together we have helped to bridged the gap of poverty, poor health and eduction by providing essential needs and other humanitarian and small business support.
We are able to do a lot on a small budget. This year we need to raise $39,000.00. You can donate to any area on the drop down menu and it will be added to the annual goal!
Each year we have a cohort of twenty mothers and their babies. We focus on helping them each month with food, education, community building, medical and medicinal support. We have also begun a clean water poject in 2023 for remote villages.
Our major goals for 2024 are to start a soup kitchen which will also host english and bible classes and the BTG Office. (Cost is $24K for the year. When we reach $12K then we will begin the community services.)
We have four orphans we are taking care of do not have a home therefore we want to build them one on property that is legally theirs. ($3500)
Like every year, we do what we can as funds are available. The remainder of the funds needed for 2024 will support local families, help moms with babies, provide educational assistance, humanitarian aid, school supplies to children, birthdays gifts, as well as Christmas gifts and parties for our families.
Here is the thing to remember. None of these things happen without your help. There is no one else that will be coming to provide assistance and hope. Families like you see above appreciate your help and your heart.
BTG is a registered 501C3 with the IRS as well as a registered NGO in Peru. 95% of the funds you give go directly to the support and help of these families. The remainder keeps the organization official in Peru with accounting and local Government costs.(This is only 05%of the budget @$1800 for the year.)
The President of BTG US and it volunteers are not paid for their work or for travel.
