Your Support Makes Our Work Possible

Working Together to Save the Ocean

MOC Marine Institute is a nonprofit organization with a mission to inspire lifelong environmental stewardship and ensure the survival of coral reefs and sea turtles in Hawaiʻi through science-based conservation efforts, education, and outreach.

We wouldn’t be here without you. Since 2019, with your support, we have:

Rescued and released more than 1,000 sick or injured sea turtles

Established the first rehabilitation facility dedicated to sea turtles in the Hawaiian Islands

Developed a multimodal technique for treating sea turtle entanglement injuries, an approach that has successfully saved the flippers of hundreds of sea turtle patients, increasing their odds of survival

Collaborated with University and Agency partners on research studies to gain a better understanding of sea turtle biology and ecology

Conceptualized and launched the Fishing Line Recycling Program to help prevent pollution and decrease harmful interactions between discarded fishing line and marine life. Fishing line recycling bins are now located at over 40 locations across the island of Maui

Created the Honu Hero Beach Cleanup Program to provide an accessible method for both residents of Maui and visitors to the island to make a difference. Since the launch of the program, more than 100,000 individual pieces of debris have been collected

Rapidly respond to coral reef damage incidents, such as the vessel grounding at Honolua Bay, to help ensure the survival of coral reefs in Hawaiʻi

We need your help to continue this important work!
