Help Us Increase Diverse Representation in Startups

Overview

For Black History Month, Colorwave is once again teaming up with the black-owned sneaker trading platform, Tradeblock, to help grow our impact in 2023. During February, Tradeblock will donate $1 for every trade made on the platform with the ability to match the month-ending total. For anyone interested in supporting Colorwave directly, you can use this page to show your support via donation.

What is Colorwave and Its Impact?

Colorwave is a nonprofit whose mission is to make the innovation economy more equitable and inclusive by providing leaders of color access to venture-backed startups.

In 2022, Colorwave experienced tremendous growth in its community and impact, with some highlights listed below.

  • Doubled the size of our fellow community to nearly 300 alumni
  • Expanding our geographic reach with fellows representing 60 different cities and in 6 different countries
  • More than 110 fellows and counting have transitioned into roles across the innovation economy
  • Helping to close the racial wealth gap by increasing fellows' total compensation by more than $1.6M in 2021, with an average increase of $52K for those transitioning.
  • 92% quality score from fellow participants, 100% recommend the program

We firmly believe that our work is changing our fellows' personal and professional journeys and will have a reverberating impact in America's innovation economy for years to come.

Check out our  2022 Impact Report and visit www.thecolorwave.org to learn more about our work.

Where Your Support Goes

Despite our outsized impact, we continue to offer our programming and support to professionals at no cost, understanding they face enough barriers to transitioning and thriving within the innovation economy. It costs Colorwave roughly $2,600 per fellow to provide a world-class, life-altering, eight-week fellowship experience.

Here's how those costs are distributed:

  • Coordination of weekly speaker leaders: $1,000
  • Connecting fellows to industry professionals and employers: $800
  • Cross-networking & fellowship amongst community: $400
  • Career coaching and negotiation support: $250
  • Resume/LinkedIn review: $150

Much of our work is made possible by individual donors like yourself. Your donation can help us scale our impact and meet our goal of diversifying America's innovation economy!

Colorwave is helping build the future of the innovation economy. Please join us in building the future of tech that includes ALL communities.
