Grow with Us in 2023

Thanks to a growing circle of generous donors, we've been walking through prison gates every week since 2013. In Greater-Boston prison yards, our students work hard to cultivate mindfulness and job skills for the green economy. Join us in the garden!

State funding minimally touches the need for prison-based education. The need is vast. Together, we can transform prison yards into new ecosystems where incarcerated adults work shoulder-to-shoulder with professional horticulturists and practice skills for a life outside.  Our students need your clear-sighted compassion to build a bridge from prison to lives and livelihoods in Boston.

A RAFFLE BEFORE THE YEAR ENDS!

A constellation of Greater-Boston change-makers is building opportunities for incarcerated neighbors, returning citizens and their loved ones. At The New Garden Society, we believe in incorporating a multitude of strategies in our work. We also believe in collaboration with other organizations for a more just future. Which is why this winter we are partnering with Transformational Prison Project, a grassroots organization led by four formerly incarcerated men working together to heal our communities most affected by the US carceral system.

Now through December 31st, we are hosting a raffle to help bring awareness and resources to an organization who is making a difference. Learn more about TPP and the amazing work they are doing.

To enter -- simply make a donation (of any amount) to The New Garden Society AND Transformational Prison Project and you'll be automatically entered to win:

  • A garden consultation with Christie Dustman, a $165 value. Christie has established hundreds of gardens in the greater Boston area that continue to flourish and offer four-season sanctuaries. Work with Christie to envision your green oasis.

  • A collection of seeds for The New Garden Society’s ten favorite vegetables and edible flowers for northern gardens.

  • A Transformational Prison Project sweatshirt. A heavyweight shirt with a soft feel and the powerful words — Hurt People Hurt People Healed People Heal People.

  • The New Garden Society t-shirt. Wear your heart on your sleeve and support prison gardens at the same time! All our gear is printed in Dorchester and features TNGS' seal on the chest and 'Transforming Landscapes Transforming Lives' across the back. The New Garden Society's seal is a powerful symbol to wear out into the field featuring the native juneberry and 'Thus I Flourish.'

The raffle drawing will be held on Monday, January 2nd. All winners will be contacted by email.

Give online or the old-fashioned way by mailing a check to: The New Garden Society P.O. Box 301264 Boston, MA 02130
