2020 Membership & Sponsorship

Wilkes Art Gallery staff, board, and volunteers wish you well during these unusual times. We miss you, our members, and are as eager as you to get back to exhibit openings, classes, and events.

For months, the staff and board at WAG have been planning our March membership drive. Membership is what keeps our doors open. But things happen, and plans change, and now we all are working together to face the unknown threat of the COVID-19 virus in our community. We are certain that when times are hard, we need to lean on each other as a community. We are asking you to allow us to lean on you to help us maintain financial stability as we step into an unknown future. In return, our doors will be wide open for you any time you need art, a place to be creative, or a community to dwell in when life returns to normal.

We’ve had a busy year at the Wilkes Art Gallery. Our focus on creating strong community partnerships took us to amazing places. We cultivated a relationship with Wilkes Vocational Services, made new friends at St. John’s Catholic Church Hispanic Ministries, and provided six Free Play Art Days. In collaboration with the North Carolina Arts Council, over $12,000 was granted to community pillars such as the Wilkes Playmakers, Bleu Moon Productions, and the Health Foundation, among others. The Beta Club at Wilkes Early College High School installed a little free pantry behind our building that is used on a near-daily basis, and we were able to work with generous donors to refurbish our children’s classroom. Be on the lookout for a ribbon-cutting event this fall!

Please consider renewing your membership this year. This can be done as a one-time payment, or a monthly subscription. If you’re able, consider increasing your rate of giving. Membership is more important than ever as closures affect our ability to earn an income. Even when our physical doors are closed, our staff and board are committed to taking on the tasks that make our organization successful and we are as dedicated as ever to being good stewards of your generous donation.
