This International Dog Day, let's remember the countless dogs who are not as fortunate as our beloved companions. While many dogs live comfortable lives in loving homes, millions of others struggle to survive on the streets.
This year, we dedicate this day to the dogs of Turkey. The recent government decision to approve a "massacre law" has put the lives of millions of Turkish dogs at risk. These innocent animals are being forcibly removed from their territories and subjected to inhumane treatment.
Local associations and volunteers are desperately trying to protect these strays. They have been caring for these dogs for years, but now they face a dire situation. Our member association, Bir Pati de Sen Tut, is struggling to continue their vital work due to mounting veterinary bills. For example, they have 15 sterilized dogs whose bills remain unpaid.
If you want to help us save these dogs, please consider making a donation. Your support will enable us to help our partner provide essential care and shelter to these vulnerable animals.
At the end of May, we made a plea for assistance for 15 stray dogs who needed to be spayed and neutered as soon as possible. To assist them, we launched a fundraising that, frankly speaking, was not very successful; however, in agreement with our member league association Bir Pati in Ankara, we could not wait any longer.
In total, twelve (12) dogs were sterilized. Three more dogs remain, including a female adult who we hope will not mate. 😭
OIPA paid for two sterilizations, but our partner owe money for the remaining ten dogs at two different vet clinics.
We are aware that the cost of sterilization in Turkey is prohibitively expensive due to inflation, which is why we are once again requesting your assistance in making a gift to our fundraising campaign.
While we are still trying to collect enough funds to cover the entire amount requested for spaying/neutering the fiftheen dogs, our member association has anyway started taken some of the puppies to the clinic to prevent possible pregnancies and asking for credits.
We are still far from reaching the goal that’s why we need your precious help
A little donation can save a life!
