January is Human Trafficking Prevention Month. In Israel, over 4,000 youth are estimated to be victims of human trafficking, and another 3,000 minors report sexual abuse or assault. ELEM estimates the total number of youth victims to be exponentially higher.
At ELEM, we believe no young person should face these horrors alone. That’s why ELEM operates 6 initiatives across 12 centers dedicated to youth affected by trafficking, exploitation, and abuse. Through these trauma-informed and extreme-risk programs, ELEM provides shelter to more than 500 young people escaping human trafficking, and over 10,000 hours of therapeutic support to survivors of sexual abuse. Our impact leads to long term change: 25% of young adults in our shelters quit exploitative sex work entirely, while 50% significantly reduced their reliance on it.

This January, stand with American Friends of ELEM in raising awareness and providing critical support to the survivors of human trafficking and exploitation. Together, we can create a safer, more hopeful future for these youth.
