Many families in Detroit are forced to live under inhumane conditions due to the color of their skin. This is a result of systemic racism and red-lining. We at Safe and Sound aim to eliminate the harsh realities of the living conditions in Detroit on step at a time. The houses in Detroit that we plan to select are in need of major renovations. Such improvements include: Correcting health and safety hazards (like mold and standing sewage); electrical repairs; furnace replacement; plumbing; door and window replacements (to improve. drafts); porches and structural support; roof fixing and replacement; landscaping.
