It is that rare feeling when you can not speak their language, yet the sound of it, wrapped in music, somehow says it all. 

Here is what is going on. Ÿuma is a duo by Sabrine Yehnani and Ramy Zoghlami from Tunisia, who have made it their mission to sing what they feel in the dialect that they own. 

Their inspiration has tangled roots: from Fairuz, the Lebanese diva of ornamental, classical Arabic sound, to western, ‘naked guitar’ minimalism. 

The two met almost a decade ago, discovering that they were looking at the world through the same lense. They soon decided to record their first songs, bootstrapping a tour around Tunisia where they met loving listeners addicted to their unique sound. Then Paris. Then London.
