Youth Exploring the Performing Arts
Seven year old Marcus and his three, 11 year old background singers, entered the stage and took their positions just as they had rehearsed it. Marcus took the mic and the audience became very quiet and still. Everyone was waiting to see and hear what was about to happen.
When the performance ended the crowd leaped to their feet and erupted into loud wild cheering, applauding and whistling. Marcus dropped the mic and the kids exited the stage with glowing faces and their hearts fluttering with excitement and happiness.
The parents, families and friends of these bright talented youth were almost in tears because they were filled with joy and pride to see just how well the kids performed.
TRANSCENDING ELEMENTS INC. Awakening imaginations. Empowering dreams.
We offer youth, who are interested in the performing arts, the opportunity to explore, learn and perform through classes that we offer through music, dance, theater and audio technology. We serve youth, ages 7-18, who come from low income families in under-served communities. Youth who would not otherwise be able to afford such classes.
It has been found through study after study that regular participation in the arts, youth show improved school grades in math, reading, and science and test scores. Dancers, for example, have the ability to see space and time. There is an increase in the motivation to learn. It also gives the youth a safe place to be engaged in a positive way. There are many athletic programs, but not all youth like sports. There are a lot of youth who are artists, but do not have an outlet to explore their gifts plus it is just great fun that teach life skills. Studies also show that a high percentage of youth involved in the arts will continue into higher learning programs and obtain degrees in these areas.
Ninty-seven cents (.97) of every dollar that is donated goes directly the programs and services for the youth.
