Young Artist Competition 2020

YOUNG ARTIST COMPETITION The Canadian Sinfonietta Young Artist Competition offers talented young musicians (25 years and under) the opportunity to perform one movement of a concerto, or a concert piece with the orchestra. Up to 10 finalists will be selected from the first round of video auditions and invited to participate in a final live competition. Of the finalists, up to 3 winners will be chosen and featured on our annual Young Artist Concert, held on Sunday March 8, 2020 at 5 PM. 

Application and Online Video Due Date: Friday January 24, 2020 (by midnight) 

Final Competition: Saturday February 1, 2020 at 2PM (Aster’s Music House, 47 Proctor Ave. Thornhill) 

Concert Date: Sunday March 8, 2020 @ 5PM at the Markham C. Church, 22 Esna Park Dr. 


COMPETITION DETAILS 

This competition is open to ALL instruments: strings (including harp), piano, winds, brass, percussion and voice

Applicants are required to submit an online video audition of one movement from a concerto or concert piece they have chosen to perform with the orchestra (Applicants must audition with the work they have chosen to perform if selected as the winner). 

Applicants must be 25 years and under 

Chosen performance piece cannot exceed 15 minutes 

Chosen performance piece accompaniment can have up to these instruments: 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, 2 horns, 2 trumpets, strings, timpani
