We believe yoga can change a life. But not everyone has access to this transformative practice. Lack of funds, systemic inequities, and racial barriers prevent many people from ever stepping foot in a yoga class. And oftentimes, they are just the humans that need it the most.
Benefit Class for The Give Back Yoga Foundation
All Levels Flow Yoga with live acoustic guitar
New Date: Saturday, June 22 10:30 am
This class will be offered instead of Jeff's "regular" class. Jeff will be playing the tunes, while Sheila will teach a Freedom Flow class. (The class will similar to the Sober Community Class that is new on the schedule on the first Friday of each month, at 5:45 pm. It is an all levels slow flow class where beginners are welcome along with all yoga lovers, and anyone who is in recovery, their loved ones and allies.)

We are honored to support the Give Back Yoga Foundation's "Yoga for All program" bringing yoga to veteran and addiction recovery centers, homeless encampments, and cancer recovery hospitals. We believe yoga can change a life — but not everyone has access to this transformative practice. Lack of funds, systemic inequities, and racial barriers prevent many people from ever stepping foot in a yoga class, when, often, these are the individuals who could benefit from it the most. This spring, we need your help to vastly expand yoga outreach to these communities.
The Give Back Yoga Foundation has been instrumental for Sheila and many of her yoga colleagues' continuing education and understanding of the complexities of bringing yoga to these underserved populations. Their online trainings and conferences offer up-to-date research, best practices, and innovative interventions on yoga for prevention and recovery for all.
Heartsong is honored to have been gifted yoga mats from GBYF to support our new Freedom Yoga class. Sheila developed the program with the support of The Phoenix: A Sober Community, as a volunteer to teach (at least) one free yoga class a month. (on the first Friday of each month) Visit https://thephoenix.org/ to learn more, download The Phoenix app on your phone, or we can register you right the door! Walk-ins welcome.
