Did you know that the Association québécoise pour l'éducation à domicile (AQED) / Quebec Association for Home Based Education (QAHBE) is an entirely volunteer-run organization? Without the efforts of home educators like yourself, and our volunteer board of directors, AQED would not exist!
Families engaged in home-based learning in Quebec are presently facing numerous challenges: rampant public misinformation regarding homeschooling, prejudice from authorities, and frustrating interactions with local school boards. In addition, the current proposed changes to the law on public education in Quebec - bill 144, as well as proposed changes to the Youth Protection Act in bill 99, are worrisome due to the constraints they could place on parent-educators.
Despite this, AQED continues to support its members and the homeschooling community at large by offering legal advice, disseminating information, and lobbying the Ministère de l'Éducation et de l'Enseignement Supérieur and the Committee on Health and Social Services for changes to the proposed legislation. This political action comes with expenses, however, and in order to maintain our efforts your financial support is needed!
