Woods Family Endowment Fund
Constance and Barry Woods established this fund in memory of his father, Jay Warren Woods, and of his mother, Blanche Woods Ashworth, who were active in the community. Jay was born in Martins Ferry, OH, the son of Dr. Roy R. and Viola Woods. Blanche, a Raleigh county native, was youngest of ten children born to Andrew B. and Sara Elizabeth Clay. They met and married while attending Marshall. Jay was an accomplished trombonist and played professionally. When the couple moved to Beckley, they opened State Adjustment and Medical-Dental-Hospital Bureau of Beckley, a business which operated successfully from offices in the Raleigh County Bank building for 59 years. Music has always been an integral part of the Woods’ lives, and the funds distributed from this donor advised fund will go toward developing the arts, particularly music, in the Beckley-Raleigh County area.
