But you won't see the great and diverse women of American history whose bravery shaped our democracy. Of the 40 monuments, memorials, and statues on the National Mall - the most visited National Park in the United States with 36 million annual visitors - none are dedicated to American women’s history. Amongst our most iconic monuments and memorials, American women’s stories have been erased.
We're here to change that.

On Sep 2, 2023 my four year old granddaughter and I (her grandfather) visited the mall, where we saw Amelia Earhart’s 1930’s classic roadster displayed near the Smithsonian Metro stop. She was excited by the car because her class is studying Earhart and other women explorers. This car was the only “monument” on the mall recognizing, if indirectly, the contribution of pioneering American women in our history. It is time to change that by building a monument on the mall commemorating the women who fought for equal rights.
