Women of Banglatown is a women and girls community arts organization serving the growing immigrant population in Hamtramck, Michigan since 2014. Our mission is to provide a welcoming and culturally-sensitive space for girls and young women ages 10-21 years old, within the community, a space outside of home and school where parents feel comfortable sending their first generation daughters. We host free weekly art and exercise classes taught by local women artists and entrepreneurs. Each class creates the opportunities for women and girls to explore and learn their own creative and social potential.
This past October, we signed our first commercial lease and moved into a 3,300-square-foot building in Hamtramck. The additional space means we can come into our full potential as a community hub by including more weekly programming, after school homework help, and an internet cafe.
We would love to have your support along the way as we build up our new space. Become a one time donator or a monthly sustainer. Any amount helps us achieve our goals.
