Canada’s forests are some of the world’s most precious resources. They’re home to a wide range of species, carry immense cultural significance for the Indigenous peoples who live there, and store an exceptional amount of carbon. And they’re on fire.
As the climate and biodiversity crises rapidly accelerate and our industrial footprint continues to expand, our forests are reaching a tipping point. And there needs to be a conversation about how we can protect them.
The Clear Cut steps into Canada’s forests and unpacks expert viewpoints on our forest management systems and what needs to change.
Wildlands takes listeners on a journey to better understand how forestry in Canada works, how we got to this point in the first place. We look into why we don't measure forest carbon losses accurately, and break through the myths surrounding “Sustainable Forest Management.”
This series also serves as a forum to explore different solutions to better forestry in Canada. In our dialogue with our guests, we develop courses of action and policy changes. Actions that people can implement in their everyday lives.
Together, we will use the power of podcasting to facilitate change, and save our forests.

Founded in 1968, Wildlands League is a not-for-profit charity working to preserving nature for generations to come.
We recognize the alarming rates of species and habitat loss worldwide. In Canada, caribou ranges are on the brink, two- thirds of our grassland birds have gone extinct, and salmon stocks are in decline.
We are a team of policy experts, strategists, and communication professionals standing up for wildlife and standing with communities as we tackle irresponsible development and find ecological solutions that will protect at least 50% of Canada’s land, freshwater, and oceans - for our kids, for the climate, and for the planet.
