24 people a minute are victims of rape, assault, or stalking by an intimate partner in the US. DP/IPV results in 1300 deaths per year, so more than 3 people are killed by intimate partners per day. Houston County, GA is in the 90th percentile for domestic violence incidents, and someone dies every other day in Georgia from domestic violence.
What Do We Use Donations For?
Wind Haven Foundation is an interfaith non-sectarian, community outreach 501c3 domestic violence organization, and all donations are tax-deductible. Donations to Wind Haven support our mission, help domestic violence victims in crisis, and help us reach our goals. Wind Haven intends to build a domestic violence recovery center in Warner Robins, GA. Long-term goals include nationwide & global recovery centers.
Houston County, GA is in the 90th percentile for domestic violence incidents in the state of Georgia. This is due to an underdeveloped support infrastructure for domestic violence services. A Wind Haven recovery center will provide shelter and programs designed to aid in healing from domestic abuse, including advocacy, counseling, pastoral care, education assistance, skills training, career counseling, housing assistance, transportation assistance, financial assistance, and legal assistance for victims of domestic violence.
Currently, our most impactful program is our survivor transportation program. We currently provide discounted rides to local survivors back and forth to work. We aid survivors in getting into a vehicle or a ride-share rental car so that they can start driving as a ride-share driver, have reliable transportation, make an income, and give them the means for shelter. Donations allow us to provide free rides when needed, provide financial assistance for transportation costs, and help survivors with the initial costs of purchasing a vehicle of their own. You may choose a designation for your donation to go toward general operations and organizational costs or the survivor transportation program.
GENERAL DONATIONS: To ensure transparency and donor impact, a portion of donations made by well-informed donors will be allocated towards our investment portfolio dedicated to sustaining our organization through the benefits of nonprofit investing. These dividends will be utilized to cover essential organizational costs and expenses such as essential programs, hiring additional staff, financial assistance to victims, a new domestic violence shelter in Houston County, etc. Stocks owned by 501c3 organizations are protected from capital gains tax. A stock portfolio funded by donations makes the donations last longer for a more lasting impact.
