Widows Sponsorship Fund
Allah said in the Qur'an:
)ويسألونك عن اليتامى قل إصلاح لهم خير، وإن تخالطوهم فإخوانكم والله يعلم المفسد من المصلح( البقرة:220
"They ask thee concerning orphans. Say: "The best thing to do is what is for their good; if ye mix their affairs with yours, they are your brethren; but Allah knows the man who means mischief from the man who means good." 2:220
This campaign is to provide financial support for widows, each sister has different circumstances but they all have 1 thing in common... They are carrying the financial burden and worries of life without the support of benefits or organizations.
Children whose father has passed away are considered orphans in Islam.
Alhamdulillah sister "1" has been fully sponsored for a year!
Raqiyah, 62 years, mother of 4, lives in a flat with her brother. This Aunty is suffering Renal Failure and needs dialysis 3 times a week but can only afford 1 or 2 treatments a week. Some of her medicine is paid by the Government and the rest she must purchased by her and her brother.
She pays some rent and bills, her kids cant support her due to their own life expenses as her medical treatment is significantly costly.
1 Week of dialysis cost 1800 Moroccan Dirham which equals about 150 GBP ( for 3 treatments which is what she is prescribed)
If she cant pay her dialysis then she goes without and that causes her more harm.
“O son of Adam! It is better for you if you spend your surplus (wealth), but if you withhold it, it is evil for you. There is (however) no reproach for you (if you withhold the essentials) for a living. And begin (charity) with your dependents; and the upper hand is better than the lower hand.”
Umm Sumayah, 35 years , This sisters husband has just passed away from stomach cancer on the 8th of December 2018.
He was suffering for a few months spending his savings on treatment and scans leaving his wife in financial hardship. The sister will need help to purchase food and pay her bills in the coming months for an unknown amount of time.
Allah Almighty said:
وَمَن يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَل لَّهُ مَخْرَجًا
(And for those who fear Allah, He (ever) prepares a way out).
PROPHET MUHAMMAD (ﷺ) said:
The one who looks after a widow or a poor person is like a
1) Mujahid (warrior) who fights for Allah's Cause, or
2) Like him who performs prayers all the night and
3) Fasts all the day.
