Goal
Over 2023-2024, the Women in Coffee Project is participating in a fundraiser for Microfinance Training for Women. It includes financial literacy education, sets the foundation for a Learning Loan, and a manual called Credit for Women - a program and concept created by Karen Cebreros, Maria Ruiz, Roberta Lauretti-Bernhard, and Verena Fischersworring. This training will provide critically important opportunities for sustainable futures for smallholder women producers, their families, their communities, and the industry as a whole.
This fundraiser aims to cover 12 months of costs for hosting in-person trainings for attendees at major coffee events (such as the 20th Anniversary conference of the IWCA in Addis, Ethiopia in fall 2023), in-person trainings for trainers to take the information into their own communities, and virtual trainings in different languages to target different groups and cooperatives who have expressed interest in this topic.
If you'd like to contribute in different ways, here are some ideas to get you started about how these funds will be allocated:
- Disruptor: $5/wk or $20/month for one year as a recurring OR $240 one-time donation, covers the cost of participants attending virtual classes remotely
- Double Disruptor: $10/wk or $40/month for one year as a recurring OR $520 one-time donation, covers the cost of 1 participant in an in-person training class or 2 virtual participants
- Women in Translation Sponsorship: $1000 one-time donation covers the cost of translating the manual into more languages to increase access
- Train the Trainer Sponsorship: $2500 one-time donation, covers the cost of training 5 women to continue the training in their home regions or cooperatives
- Business Sponsorship: $5000 one-time donation, covers the cost of an entire in-person training for 10 participants
All donors will be included in progress reports, as well as thanked publicly when we promote these trainings!
