The Whitmore Square Barbeque is a weekly event where a free breakfast is provided to the homeless and those in need each Saturday.
The barbeque started in October 2022 when three housemates wheeled their barbeque into Whitmore Square in Adelaide's CBD to share food and yarn with those in the community. The BBQs have continued every Saturday since then.
Today, the BBQ costs $350/week to run; roughly half of this comes from donations and the rest is self-funded. We are seeking support as the event continues to grow.
Currently, a donation of $3 will feed 1 person in need!
Your donation helps us to fund items such as:
- Eggs, Bacon, Sausages, Bread
- Tea and Coffee
- Sauces and Condiments
- Gas for BBQ
- Serving Utilities
- Coffee & Tea Dispensers
- Special Events and initiatives for those in need
Not only can you donate but you can get involved!
Please submit an application here to be considered as a volunteer: Apply to volunteer at the Saturday Barbeque
Our vision is for this to be a community event, where the homeless and housed are able to meet. So we would love for you to join us for breakfast & a yarn.
