Giving water is giving life
Running water is not a reality in many parts of the country here in Uganda.Young school going children, women and girls in homes are the primary water-fetchers and spend large parts of their days lugging water rather than studying or engaging in more productive activities.
These water sources are located in valleys and during this time, they are very crowded and become points of violence and too risky for the elderly, women and girls who are primarily responsible for fetching water for domestic use.
Since some of these water sources are shared with animals, this makes this water unsafe for drinking. For as low as $1320 USD will help a school get a rainwater harvesting system and $3600 USD will drill a well for a village of over 600 household where they will get safe drinking water for life.
