Goal

As one of Sumba’s pioneering resorts, built on the principles of slow luxury and intentional wellness, our vision is rooted in giving back to the island that has become our paradise home.

With our Water Facilities programme, we aim to construct sustainable infrastructures namely deep-drilled wells, toilets and wash stations to provide consistent access to clean groundwater within schools, eliminating daily water-fetching burdens and enabling children to attend school regularly.

Key features:

1. Deep-drilled wells (80 meters) accessing clean groundwater

2. Dynamic pump systems for ease and convenience

3. Community training on maintenance and repair

4. Water storage tanks (approximately 5,000 liters per site)

5. The installation of toilets and wash stations

Through this programme, The Sanubari strives to:

1. Establish reliable, year-round water facilitations in water-scarce areas across schools surrounding our resort in West Sumba.

2. Improve the livelihood of the local children and their families through responsible eco-tourism and the building of these water facilities.

3. Resolve common and serious clean water access issues in Sumba one step at a time.

The Sanubari is unusual in such a high level of support for local communities. Their help reflects deep knowledge of challenges facing local communities. This ability to help support their aims makes staying here more pleasurable than the level of sustainable care they already offer. I am grateful for this opportunity and the Resort offering this support
