Goal

Dear friends,

As the bitter cold of winter approaches, we are in a race against time to raise funds for hay, feed and vet care. Little Oak Sanctuary has been providing safe haven for animals in need for 11 years. The cost of living crisis has hit us hard. Still, our commitment to the 333  animals we currently have in care, including a growing number of elderly residents, remains unwavering.

Heading into winter this year,  the cost of care is higher than ever. Our large number of elderly animals, including horses, sheep, goats, cows, and pigs, require high levels of supportive care and attention; soon, the call to help orphaned lambs and calves will start flowing in, and all our residents need extra feed to stay healthy during the colder months. We are facing a massive increase in expenses as we ensure that each animal not only survives but thrives.

We are there when animals like Mildred, the little goat who came to us with a horrific leg injury, need us. In a world where farmed animals are often viewed as little more than products, we are here to ensure they are seen and cared for as the sentient beings they are.  We are here to ensure they are given the life-saving vet care and support they need and are cared for, respected and loved. Mildred, with the help of our supporters, has made a remarkable recovery and is now living a happy and healthy life. But we can only do this with your support.

Mildred the goat is recovering well with love and care

Last winter, we managed, thanks to the generosity of people like you. This year, with many of our supporters facing their own financial challenges and unable to continue regular donations, we need to raise $75,000 to cover the heightened costs of hay, veterinary care,  nutritious feed, essential medications and supportive supplements.

Here’s how your generosity can help keep our residents warm and well this winter:

  • $30 provides a bale of hay, essential sustenance for our residents during the sparse winter months.
  • $100 buys a bag of formula for orphaned lambs, kids or calves.
  • $300 helps maintain our medical supplies for emergency treatments and regular health checks.

For those who can contribute more significantly, we offer the opportunity to leave a lasting mark on our sanctuary:

  • $2,500 helps cover our veterinary costs for a month. It will be commemorated by planting a native tree with a protective guard and a personalized plaque in your name.
  • $5,000 supports a month of veterinary care, including emergency interventions and/or major surgeries, and allows us to erect and name a shelter in your honour (2 available).

Every dollar you donate makes an immediate difference in the lives of our animals, helping us provide a safe haven where they can find peace and protection. Your support ensures we can continue our mission even through the most challenging times.

Please help us reach our goal of $75,000 this winter. Every contribution,  large or small, is deeply appreciated, and as we are a registered charity with DGR status, donations over $2 are tax-deductible. After donating, we encourage you to share our cause on social media to help spread the word.

Together, with warm hearts, we can ensure a safe haven for all at Little Oak.

With deepest gratitude and hope,

Kate & James

Sorry your Bunnings BBQ didn't go ahead. Unfortunately there's a long way to go to overcome the ignorance of some people. Thank you for all of your efforts.

Thank you for the work you do. They say all publicity is good publicity. I hadn’t heard of your sanctuary until I read the CT articles about Bunnings. They will back down for sure…
