Walker Family Scholarship Fund

Local residents Becky and Kent Walker established this scholarship fund honoring their mothers, Zetta “Peggy” Walker and Sue Ann Mason Chapman. The annual net income from the fund will be used for a need/merit based scholarship, to be awarded to a college qualified graduate of WWHS who will pursue a degree in the arts. “Pursuit of the arts and art education teaches us discipline, patience, persistence and strong work ethics,” noted Becky. “Kent and I both feel that art education has been an important benefit to our children, a value that was instilled in us by our mothers.” Kent was an art major who taught at Stratton Junior High School before forming his own business, Appalachian Signs.
