In a remote part of Papua New Guinea, hundreds of high school students leave their homes each year to walk 300kms to get to their closest school. On this journey they navigate difficult terrain and encounter extreme hostility from rival tribes – encounters which often lead to violence and abuse. But there is hope. Together, we can start to create change. You can help make a huge impact within these communities.
Education plays a vital role in creating and maintaining a healthy and successful life. It provides people with the skills needed to overcome poverty and protect themselves. Education offers people the chance to live a life of freedom and opportunity.
Education doesn’t only impact the student, it impacts a community. Educated young people who are members of a community are empowered to act as advocates for economic and social change. Education leads to better health outcomes, economic development and a lasting legacy of meaningful impact.
Please note that in the unlikely event a specific appeal becomes overfunded, surplus funds will be redirected towards a similar relief or community development project.
