COIS SCOI Walk N Wheel 2024

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page for the Canadian Osteogenesis Imperfecta Society's (COIS) Walk-N-Wheel 2024, taking place on July 19th!

My name is Hannah, and I am super excited to serve as the regional hub leader for this event in the Atlantic provinces. The AtlantiCAN team is a community of individuals living with Osteogenesis Imperfecta and their allies, united in our mission to raise funds and awareness for COIS. Whether you join us virtually or in person in Halifax, we invite you to walk or wheel with us to make a difference.

A Little About Me:
I've had Type I OI for 18 years and have broken and bruised many bones in my body, including three compression fractures to the spine. I have been lucky enough not to require any permanent mobility devices and because of this, have led a fairly average life other than the chronic back pain and scoliosis I have.
Despite the pain and breaks, I have been able to enjoy many things thanks to the treatments provided to me at Shriners Hospital in Montreal and the IWK in Halifax. I've been able to go to the gym safely, enjoy my hobbies, and even get my pilot's license!

Spotlight on our AtlantiCAN Team
We are made up of amazing individuals each with our own inspiring stories and reasons for participating. Let us know a bit about you so we can highlight your story!

We are so thankful for the incredible resources COIS provides. The funds will go directly to COIS to continue these impactful initiatives:
  • The Francis Glorieux Fellowship for Medical Research, ensuring excellence in ongoing research, treatment, and management of OI.
  • The first OI Family Camp in Canada, providing financial assistance to families wishing to attend.
  • Educational webinars in partnership with The Canadian Alliance for Rare Disorders of the Skeleton (CARDS).
  • The COIS Physician and Clinic Directory, helping families locate dependable multidisciplinary medical care.
  • Sponsorships for families to attend the OIF National Conference.
