The Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, established on January 1st by Pope Paul VI in 1974, gives Mary’s important role as the Mother of God prominence in the liturgical year. New Year’s Day is also traditionally a day of prayer for world peace. So, both peace, and Mary as mother of the Prince of Peace, are highlighted by my 2026 New Year's wishes for my daughter's family.
