Goal
Voter turnout in the Detroit area hasn’t been great.
For what is maybe the most important part of our democracy there sure are a lot of issues in the way of getting to the polls. From not having time off work, insufficient childcare options, lack of access to voter information resources or not having transportation to the polls there are too many barriers for folks in Detroit, Highland Park and Hamtramck when it comes to being represented. No vote means no voice, which is bad.
This year COVID-19 presents an even larger challenge to getting to the polls to cast your vote.
But we can make it much better.
We’re working the solve the transportation issue for those who want to vote. This election day we’re going to run routes with an army of volunteers with their own cars to get everyone in the Detroit Metro Area to their local polling place. It’s pretty ambitious, but big problems usually need big answers.
This year we’re serving Detroit, Hamtramck, Highland Park, Southfield and Pontiac.
We’re working to make these rides as safe as possible with mandatory masks, sanitizer, and open windows. If you don’t have a mask we will supply one for you.
Let’s do this.
