The horrific Covenant School tragedy on March 27th, 2023 occurred 2.3 miles (6 minutes) from our house. We have friends whose children will forever live with the unbearable trauma of being hunted, the smell of gun powder, and the sight of classmates falling to the ground. Their parents oscillate between overwhelming relief and immense grief. As you know, there are also 3 families that will never hug, dress, teach, or nurture their children again. 

In the days following, I joined a group of moms to take action. Voices for A Safer Tennessee is a nonpartisan coalition advocating for responsible gun ownership and firearm safety. Our approach is to calmly demonstrate a visible, yet respectful, presence at the TN State Legislature while closely collaborating with lawmakers on policy objectives. As co-chair of the legislative presence team, I have spent countless hours on Capitol Hill meeting with legislators and organizing/directing hundreds of Voices volunteers onsite. Through our growth, we have been able to hire a lobbying team, part-time employee, and launch a small ad campaign. As you can imagine, these expenses require an enormous financial commitment.
