Goal
Hi, it’s Beth! You may have seen me on social media, I'm the one who thought running a half marathon was a good idea.
In November, I’ll be running 21.1km to raise money for Viva, so if you’re wondering why I’m willingly putting myself through this… this is why.
Viva is an incredible charity working with vulnerable children around the world. Viva inspires, equips and connects networks of churches and community-based organisations to work together to make a bigger, better and longer-lasting impact in the lives of children.
This year half of all children in the world (that’s one billion children) will experience physical, sexual, or emotional violence. Churches and organisations are already rooted in their communities, ideally positioned to make a difference and by working together, churches and organisations can leverage their resources and expertise to provide a more effective, long-term response to the needs of children in their communities.
This isn't short-term help, it's long-term life-changing impact.
And this year is even more special because Viva is celebrating its 30th birthday. So as part of that, we’re aiming to raise as much as we possibly can, and apparently my contribution is running a distance that currently feels… deeply unrealistic. So here’s where you come in.
If you’re able to donate, genuinely, anything helps. Whether it’s the cost of a coffee or something more, it all goes towards supporting children who need it most. And I can promise you, every donation will also directly fuel my motivation when I’m halfway through a run questioning every life decision I’ve ever made.
And if donating isn’t possible right now, you can still support by sharing this, cheering me on, or even getting involved yourself and fundraising in your own way (ideally something less exhausting than running, but I respect the chaos if not).
Every bit of support makes a difference, not just to me getting to that finish line, but to the lives of children Viva works with every single day.
So please donate if you can… and help make this 21.1km struggle actually worth it.
Truly, thank you.
