Goal
It’s no secret. The world is facing one of the worst crises in living history and many industries are facing a battle for survival that no one was prepared for.
The specialty coffee community, in particular, is suffering an immense blow due to cafés closing, roasters struggling and coffee festivals around the world being cancelled with many knock-on effects that will affect coffee growers too.
For many, coffee festivals are an annual highlight that offer a chance to build relationships, gain new knowledge and share unique coffee moments with a tightly knit community that is now looking for new ways to connect during times of self-isolation.
That is how the idea for the Virtual Coffee Festival was born, the first in the world.
Designed to create a new virtual meeting place for coffee professionals and coffee aficionados, the Virtual Coffee Festival’s main focus will be to share knowledge, increase education and enable simultaneous learning.
Participants will get direct access to some of the industry’s most inspirational people and given the unique opportunity to participate in real-time from the comforts of their own homes. The festival will be completely carbon-neutral while breaking down borders despite national lockdowns.
It will send some positive vibes to an industry in crisis and offer a message of encouragement that says ‘Yes, we can get through this together’.
To help us make this event possible, we're asking participants for a small donation to cover our costs and all the proceeds will be donated to Doctors Without Borders to support global health workers who are at the forefront of fighting the Coronavirus.
