Vietnam Yagi Typhoon Relief Fundraiser
URGENT REQUEST
We at GVI are grieving the devastation following Typhoon Yagi this week and seeking to mobilize our support network to provide direct aid in Lao Cai province and other affected areas, where much of our work is based.
While it will take some time to get a full picture of the impact on people’s lives and homes, the Associated Press reported on Thursday that 199 people have died and 128 are missing after Typhoon Yagi made landfall on Saturday. Yagi is the strongest typhoon to hit Vietnam in decades and has triggered flooding and landslides that have been highly destructive to homes and lives. On Tuesday a flash flood swept away the entire hamlet of Lang Nu in the northwestern Lao Cai province, killing at least 40 people and leaving dozens missing.
Please make a donation today and share this need within your domains to help those suffering the impacts of Typhoon Yagi. All of the funds raised will go directly to those in need on the ground in Lao Cai and the affected areas.
GVI is a registered 501c (3) non-profit organization based in Keller, Texas (in the Dallas-Fort Worth area) and has a representative office in Hanoi, Vietnam.
