Goal
Venture for T.H.E.M. (Tech High-Performers & Entrepreneurial Minorities) is a startup accelerator based out of Washington, DC that especially supports Black and Latinx early-stage startups. We are one of the only accelerators founded and operated by HBCU students, and our goal is to defy odds and break barriers for Black & Brown investors as well as minority-led startups.
Venture for T.H.E.M. was created to help bridge the wealth gap for minority-led enterprises. Since our establishment in January 2022, we've had the opportunity to receive sponsorship from a variety of prestigious entities, including Thurgood Marshall College Fund, Moet Hennessy, and even legendary producer Pharrell Williams. Our team was recently invited to The White House to share our views on the importance of investing in underrepresented startup founders.
We connect Black and Brown startup founders with non-dilutive funding, mentorship from C-Suite Executives, and educational workshops called #FounderFridays, all while curating a community where entrepreneurs can be themselves and collaborate together. Our current cohort consists of fintech, edtech, ridesharing, and virtual reality startups.
With our initial investment of $8,000 from TMCF and Moet Hennessy, we distributed an investment of $7,500 directly to five Black-owned tech startups (ex. mobile apps, B2B software), each receiving a $1,500 check. Our goal is to double that investment for our next cohort, and raise $16,000 - $20,000. We appreciate your support!
