It is the season of giving! Her Vaga Bound Roots is excited to announce that we are raising funds to gift our first ever Vagas With Degrees Scholarship in 2020!

Her Vaga Bound Roots, established in 2017, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization geared towards empowering and supporting women of color while also promoting visibility and access to higher education.

What is a VAGA you ask? A vaga is defined as a woman who wanders the streets without a purpose or mission. In today’s world, a woman’s courage and resilience has helped break gender norms and defeat all odds. Stand with us as we reclaim what being a VAGA means; a strong, resilient and fearless woman striving to break glass ceilings.

Financial challenges are a common barrier for students pursuing higher education, especially those from low income households or marginalized backgrounds. One of our goals is to uplift women navigating college by providing them with a scholarship. By awarding women with a Vagas with Degrees Scholarship, we would be one step closer to changing the narrative for women of color in higher education.
