I’m raising money for Summit Assistance Dogs because I believe in the life-changing impact that dogs have on people’s lives. Imagine a dog as a critical helpmate, not just a pet!  I joined the board of directors - not just because I love dogs - but because I am fervently believe in our mission. 

Summit trains and partners service dogs with people who are living with mobility disabilities. Summit provides these dogs at no cost to their clients, who are often already facing high medical expenses and loss of employment. Summit is funded entirely by donations, and this is our biggest fundraising activity of the year.

Service dogs empower their human partners to live more independently and confidently. These amazing dogs assist with physical tasks, such as opening and closing doors, retrieving items, and turning switches on and off. There are so many inspiring stories about how Summit’s clients have been able to attend college, maintain their jobs, live on their own, and travel because of their service dogs. Additionally, while these dogs are being trained they are also changing the lives of the many men who participate in their prison program – it’s truly a win/win situation!
