Summit Assistance Dogs is a nonprofit organization that provides highly skilled service dogs free of charge, helping to increase independence and companionship for individuals living with disabilities.

I have had the privilege of volunteering as a puppy raiser for Summit Assistance Dogs since 2010. I am currently raising my fifth Summit puppy, a Black Lab very appropriately named Joy! 

While Summit dogs undoubtedly improve the lives of their partners, they also have a hugely positive impact on their puppy raisers. Volunteering as a puppy raiser has brought me endless joy, purpose, and provides constant opportunities to learn more about both dog training and how to increase accessibility in our community. I feel so lucky to get to work alongside so many life-changing puppies, supportive trainers, and to get to stay connected with the individuals my previous puppies have graduated to serve.
