Goal

Renew Our Most Effective Ocean Plastic Barriers

The next chapter of United World Challenge is here, focused on real, immediate impact in the fight against ocean plastic.

From Ocean Rows to Ocean Impact

🌊 2020 – United World Challenge, Expedition 1:

Tez rowed 2,700 miles solo from California to Hawaii, becoming the first person to complete that route as their first ocean row. Expedition 1 raised $77,000 for 3 students of color to attend the United World College of the USA on full scholarships. 🎓

🌊 2023-2024 – United World Challenge, Expedition 2:

Tez rowed over 5,000 miles solo and nonstop from Hawaii to Australia, and raised over $70,000 through donations like yours. This funded 15 river barriers built in partnership with Sungai Watch, who maintain these barriers daily and recycle all collected waste.

Let's Keep Our Impact Going!

With your help we aim to raise $35,000 to renew our 10 best-performing plastic barriers - critical defenses that have already stopped over 68,000 pounds of plastic from reaching the ocean. 100% of donations go directly to this effort. (Note: The "Total Raised" in progress bar above reflects funds used for Expedition costs in 2023-2024. We have raised or secured commitments for $3,600 in barrier renewals so far!)

By renewing these barriers - at nearly 50% lower cost than the original installation - we can keep this impact going and help preserve our oceans for the future.

Your support makes this possible. Donate today to extend the life of these proven solutions and keep plastic out of the sea!
