Goal
Ultrasounds can save lives on the frontlines by providing critical, real-time information to medics. Support Renegade Relief Runners in sourcing 10 high-quality ultrasounds with tablets for medics in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Diagnosis for soldiers in active combat zones is greatly limited by the absence of CT scanners and X-rays. Ultrasound is a low-cost, effective tool to help close this gap and enable Ukraine’s heroes to save patients.
Portable ultrasounds can diagnose traumatic injuries and medical catastrophes in minutes – sometimes, even seconds. These small, handheld devices can identify dropped lungs, blood in the belly, fluid around the heart, traumatic brain injury, infections, fractures, and much more. They can guide resuscitation and help providers make more informed decisions.
Handheld units are lightweight (300 g) and connect to a phone or tablet. Each ultrasound unit costs $2,050 and each tablet is $500.
Why ultrasounds?
- Rapid diagnosis
- Extensive, validated uses
- Battery operated
- Potential for remote consultation
- Light-weight and easily transportable
- Assists in triage during mass casualty incidences
Ukrainian soldiers and civilians have expressed a strong need for handheld ultrasounds. We may be witnessing the fastest uptake of portable ultrasounds in history. Thank you for supporting this important cause.
