Giving Tuesday Fundraiser Campaign
Volunteer Resources at UHN runs two programs to help our patients!
Care Kits - These kits are assembled by volunteers through donations and give to patients who come through our emergency rooms with no personal care products. Most patients end up being admitted to hospital for a few days and we hand these out so that they can feel like they have some items they might need. Care Kits include: toothpaste, toothbrush, socks, underwear, mittens, soap, and Kleenex. Donations are accepted at the hospital in the VR office or through monetary for purchase of these items.
Patient Pillows - Volunteer cut, stitch, stuff and fill heart-shaped pillows for patients who are recovering from cardiac surgery. These pillows are used to cushion the long incision left after surgery and to aid in recovery by being used for their breathing exercises, to roll out of their hospital beds, and as a seatbelt cushion for when they go home. Donations are required to purchase fabric, stuffing, needles and thread.
