OUR RECENT ACHEIVEMENTS ON THE GROUND IN UGANDA
Director Kerry Mount is on
the ground in Kihihi, Uganda for 3 months
· Plowing the fields for cropping in August of beans, maize, bamboo.
· New laboratory has begun construction on farm.
· Became a member of the Kihihi Community Church.
· Delivered Foods to schools and paid term fees in the Kihihi region were our sponsored 42 children attend.
· Received donation of food, a goat and 12 acre land on lease for our Vocational Training Centre.
· Candice and Kerry met with all Local Councillors (LC1-5) of Kihihi, Nyakononi, Nyamwagaberra, Matanda. Also had meetings with Member of Parliament, Head Policeman of Kihihi, Head Security of Nyakononi. We informed them of our organisation, our goals and achievements and gained their endorsement to operate. They were all very welcoming and supportive of our mission and are interested in volunteering their time.
· Purchased 4 x Rainwater tanks from Australian private donations to install in local villages.
· Purchased Mosquito Nets from Australian private donations to deliver to families in need.
Director Candice Mount flew to Kihihi, Uganda in June working 12 hour days for 2 weeks
· Became director also of CFMU and UCFM.
· Organised CFMU from Kihihi office; interviewing, documenting staff/volunteer qualifications, skills and knowledge; formulating job roles; formulating a production calendar; staff/volunteer hiring/training; OHS training; completed business plan; assessed accounts/finances; marketing; risk assessment/management;
· Bought stock for trial export for micro-finance – hand crafted baskets, mats, bags, Ugandan coffee beans.
· Organised sponsored families to continue making quality hand craft stock in bulk to export.
· Met with the Head Teacher and Principle of Nyamwagabeera Primary School and Saint Johns Primary and Boarding School. Assessed school principles/values, curriculum, medical priorities and nutrition. Assessed students report cards, health and well-being including mentally, assessed attendance records.
· Visited, Assessed and documented all sponsored families and met some new families in desperate need in Kihihi Region. Discussed their needs, health, and goals for their self-sufficiency.
· Assessed the state of the above families homes and organised renovations.
· Completed food deliveries to all sponsored families in the above regions including rice, beans and maize.
· Donated schooling supplies of novels, pencils, colour ins, colour in books, note pads, clothes for all ages, shoes to our sponsored families and other orphans and vulnerable children and their families within the villages.
· Assessed farmland at Matanda, storage room, crops, lavatory, natural spring, operational procedures, goals.
· Attended Kihihi Community Church where I was a guest speaker, Gained videography and photos.
· Completed Health Assessments with professional Medical Team
· Networking with business owners and local community of Kihihi Region.
· Networking with other NFP organisations and gained their support.
· Attended Coffee Trade Show, Researched export coffee bean for Australian business and farm cropping.
· Met and Assessed all staff homes and families as to care for others we must first support our own staff. Made changes to wages and support of staff and families.
