Dear Friends, Neighbors, St. Patrick Parishioners, and Compassionate Community Members,

We write to you today with deep concern and a sincere request for your support on behalf of the Hill family of Spotsylvania, Virginia. The family is currently facing an overwhelming and unforeseen crisis that has placed them in urgent need of financial assistance to meet their most basic obligations in the months ahead.

On July 5, their youngest son, Tyler, age 18, was involved in a serious motor vehicle collision while riding as a rear-seat passenger. He sustained a traumatic brain injury and remains unconscious, though he has shown encouraging signs of recovery. He has been transferred out of the intensive care unit, which has brought his family a measure of hope. Tyler will require facial surgery, continued hospitalization, and an extended period of specialized rehabilitation. His plans to begin trade school this fall have been indefinitely postponed.

The Hill family has already endured profound loss. Eleven years ago, a devastating house fire destroyed their home and claimed the life of their daughter. To have suffered the death of one child and now to face the critical injury of another is a burden no parents should ever be asked to bear.

The family’s financial circumstances have become extremely difficult. Because Tyler requires continuous care, his father—who works on a commission basis—has been unable to maintain his regular employment. As a result, the family’s income has been sharply reduced at the very moment when medical expenses, travel to and from the hospital, and ordinary living costs continue to accumulate.

To provide immediate relief, the St. Faustina Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, has established a dedicated fund. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the conference accepts tax-deductible contributions. Please consider assisting them financially.  The resulting funds will be managed through our conference using our stringent rules and procedures to cover essential expenses such as:
  • Medical bills which likely will be enormous even with insurance.
  • Their mortgage, groceries, and essential living expenses.
  • Travel expenses during his potentially long rehabilitation.
Every gift, regardless of size, will lessen the financial strain on the family during this extraordinarily difficult time. If you are unable to make a donation at present, we respectfully ask that you share this message and the accompanying donation link with others who may be in a position to help.

Also, we ask that you pray for Tyler and his family during this difficult time.
1 John 5:14-15 says:  "And we have this confidence in him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in regard to whatever we ask, we know that what we have asked him for is ours."

We ask in any way you can, financially, socially, or spiritually, to help us assist the Hill family.

"Be doers of the word and not hearers only, deluding yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his own face in a mirror. He sees himself, then goes off and promptly forgets what he looked like. But the one who peers into the perfect law of freedom and perseveres, and is not a hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, such a one shall be blessed in what he does." - James 1:22-25
Thank you for your kindness and for considering this request with compassion.
